Find the Cheapest Airfare

  • Virtual Private Network (VPN)

    • These are services that hide your IP address by superficially connecting you to other locations around the world.

    • Using a VPN can throw off airlines' use of cookies and IP tracking to give you cheaper airfare not available in your area!

    • They are typically available in the Apple or Microsoft store, both for your computer and mobile device.  Many offer free trials!

    • I've been using KeepSolid's Unlimited VPN

  • Skyscanner

      • The best tool for searching and comparing flights!

      • You can even chose to travel anywhere in the world for month blocks and Skyscanner will provide you with the cheapest flights from your home airport!

      • Stay tuned for a blog post and how-to video on how I maximize my use of Skyscanner combined with a VPN!

Best Metro and Map Apps

Here are some of my favorite metro and map apps for iOS and Android!

  • Google Maps

    • Everyone knows Google Maps.  But, did you know that you can use it to find and mark specific GPS coordinates?  Or that you can download maps and access them offline? Make sure you download where you're going so you don't have to worry about service!

  • Maps.me

      • A great offline map app that offers downloads for a wide variety of international cities. Don't have reliable WiFi? No worries! This gives you all the functionality of an online map!

      • I can't tell you what a life saver this was in Cuba!
